Questions

Parent questions, answered.

What age is this for?
Sight Words Lab is designed for ages 4–10 — pre-readers picking up their very first words through 4th-graders polishing fluency. Kids who can tap and listen are ready to start.
How is this different from a deck of paper flashcards?
A few small things add up: every word is pronounced in a natural voice, long words split into syllables on tap, your child sees the same word again automatically until it sticks, and progress saves across devices. And — crucially — there are no ads.
Are there ads or in-app purchases that surprise me?
No ads, no tracking, no surprises. There's a single one-time purchase per grade pack, or the full bundle. Once you buy it, you own it.
Can my kids have separate profiles?
Yes — make a profile for each child. Each one picks their own buddy and keeps their own streak and badges.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the initial download, all flashcards and audio work without an internet connection. Great for road trips and waiting rooms.
Which lists are the words from?
The 600 words are curated from the Dolch and Fry sight word lists — the same foundational lists used in U.S. classrooms — and reviewed by elementary reading teachers.
